I'm a 5th generation Texan, my forefathers and mothers having fought for Texas independence from Mexico, in part, so that they could have slaves. What I know is this: Polls lie. There isn't a snowballs chance in hell that Colin Allred can win a statewide election in Texas. But, James Talarico is the real deal. For many of the Texans (probably most) he is a Christian, he's white, and he is a New Deal Democrat if there ever was one. Someday he could be president of these disjointed states. We need to get Allred to drop out of the race. He couldn't beat Ted Cruz. That proves my point about his being unable to win a state-wide race in Texas. Yes, Talarico all the way.
I have to agree with you just I’ve already donated to his campaign. He is a wonderful leader and he is out there for US. He is a Christian, but he doesn’t put his Christianity forward in his policies. His policies are just good politics for all.
He was my rep in the TX House before being gerrymandered out. He moved and ran successfully in another district. No politician has made such a great impression on me for his ethical leadership and commitment to do the right things. He is the man for the moment where Christian Nationalism is prevalent and troubling. He is capable of calling it out in powerful ways unlike anyone else that I have seen, making clear its falsehoods and hypocrisies.
He also calls out where the big money is influencing other politicians, such as occurred in the Tx school voucher bill.
He has gotten practical legislation passed like limits on insulin costs in Texas, and crossed over to co-sponsor good legislation.
I am very supportive of James Talarico as a person and a politician in general and am very aligned with his beliefs. I hope he has a long and successful career in politics with increasing visibility and influence.
And…I am worried he is shooting too high, too early. Democrats haven’t gotten close enough to winning a senate seat since Beto’s unsuccessful 2018 campaign. What we really need in Texas is a slam dunk candidate with a ton of name recognition, one that can pull Bush-era republicans out of the woodwork to vote across the aisle, and someone who can pull in high turnout from Dems.
To be clear - I don’t think Colin Allred is that person either. But I’m worried Talarico’s bid is going to end up like Beto’s presidential bid - trying to go too far, too fast, and fading their political star too soon. I really hope I’m wrong! I will support whoever Texas Dems can rally behind, but I don’t want this to end up being an early end to Talarico’s promising future.
This is such good news for us in Texas!

You could be right. Like you, I hope not. But let’s do what we can to get him elected!

I started donating recently!
The Joe Rogan podcast where he appeared contains a long form interview where you can get a great sense of who he is!
I have never listened to Joe Rogan. But since I highly respect James Talerico, that may change.
I am so happy to hear this and ready to support his effort.
